Fireman Sam and his friends delighted children and adults alike when their latest musical show took to the stage of St.David’s Hall, Cardiff on Friday 3rd June 2011.
Just Kidding Children’s Shows stage presentation of Fireman Sam – Pontypandy Rocks! is the latest milestone in Fireman Sam’s success story.
The Continuing Success Of Fireman Sam
Pontypandy’s favourite fireman has entertained and educated children on fire safety on television screens since 1985. He first appeared on television screens in his native Wales as Sam Tan, then a few years later his popularity spread further afield when his adventures were broadcast across the United Kingdom. Since then, Fireman Sam has gained further appeal in many countries across the world, and with new episodes constantly broadcast on children’s TV channels continues to gain new generations of fans into his 26th year.
His latest adventure, a journey from television screen to stage is entitled Fireman Sam – Pontypandy Rocks! is a musical set around a music event staged in Sam’s seaside town of Pontypandy. It features actors in life size costumes of favourite Fireman Sam characters including Sam himself, Station Officer Steele, Elvis Cridlington, Norman Price, Bronwyn, Mandy, and Mike. All characters are supplemented by the original voices from the television series.
Fireman Sam Characters Greeted With Same Adulation As Rock Stars!
As the show begins the audience was greeted by characters Norman Price and Mandy Flood who are handing out leaflets for the Pontypandy Music Festival. As each character arrived on stage, they were greeted with the same excitement and response as adults associate with bands at large rock concerts, and the Pontypandy Music festival was going to be no exception.
As Fireman Sam and his friends prepare for Pontypandy’s music festival they are constantly interrupted by the sneaking and peeking antics of Norman Price, who is desperately seeking to uncover the identity of the festivals’ mystery guest.
As in the TV series, Norman frequently lands himself into trouble and a few of the mishaps he causes along the way are accidentally burning some cakes, being cast out to sea, and causing a fire on the music festival stage. All were expertly displayed by the special effects team on the show.
Fireman Sam Show Encourages Fire Safety To Children and Adults Alike
There was much in the way of audience interaction including songs and visual jokes, while special guest pop star Mona Arizona, played by the talented Naomi Louise Slater. encourages children and adults alike to get up, dance, and join in with the fun.
All actors get well into the characters they portray on stage, from Elvis Cridlington’s shock reaction to spotting surprise guest Mona Arizona, to Sam cheekily replacing cookies on Bronwyn’s tray.
Along with its fun elements Fireman Sam – Pontypandy Rocks! still succeeds in driving home important safety messages to children and parents alike, making this one of the best children’s events touring theatres at the moment.
