AudioGO have announced that for the third successive year, Tom Baker will return to the role of the Fourth incarnation of the Doctor in a new series of Doctor Who full-cast audio adventures entitled Serpent Crest.
Originally playing the role of the Doctor on television between 1974 and1981, Tom Baker became one of the most iconic and popular actors in the role that has been played by eleven actors over the years.
Tom Baker Returns As The Fourth Doctor!
Thirty years on from Tom Baker’s final television appearance as The Doctor, he is still fondly remembered around the world by fans for his six foot multi-coloured scarf, curly hair, wide grin and staring eyes.
He returned to the role of The Doctor in 2009 for five full cast audio dramas by Paul Magrs entitled Hornets’ Nest. This was followed by last years Demon Quest series also penned by Magrs. Serpent Crest kicks off a third series of audio dramas in September with the first instalment called Tsar Wars.
Tsar Wars Finds Tom Baker Playing A Dual Role
Tsar Wars finds the Doctor and his companion Mrs Wibbsey (Susan Jameson) catapulted from the familiar surroundings of present day Earth into the future of a world in a distant galaxy. It is at the Robotov Palace they discover an empire ruled by the Tsar and Tsarina whilst human workers are sent to work on satellite moons.
Mistaken for an old ally of the Tsarina's, The Doctor is suspected of treason after the Palace comes under attack. Further to this is the appearance of the mysterious Father Gregory who sets off a chain of events that will have lasting consequences for the Doctor and Mrs Wibbsey.
Accompanying Tom Baker in a dual audio role and Susan Jameson as Mrs Wibbsey is an impressive cast list for Tsar Wars including Michael Jayston, Simon Shepherd, Suzy Aitchison, Paul Chequer, Gabriel Vick, Grant Gillespie and Sam Hoare.
Michael Jayston is no stranger to Doctor Who fans having played the role of The Valeyard on television opposite Colin Baker’s Doctor in the 1986' Trial of A Time Lord series.
Doctor Who - Serpent Quest Release Schedule And Formats
Future installments of Doctor Who - Serpent Crest will carry all the hallmarks of exciting Doctor Who adventures including the Doctor been marooned on19th Century Earth via getting trapped in a labyrinth of artefacts to surviving against all odds on a distant moon.
Further guest actors participating in the Serpent Crest will include Terrence Hardiman, Joanna David, Richard Franklin, Geoff Leesley, Su Douglas and Andrew Sachs.
